Nigel creates large-scale, site-specific sculptures in sustainably sourced wood. His work is abstract yet deeply grounded in landscape, inviting people to pause, touch, and gather.
Born in England and now based in Scotland, Nigel Ross draws on decades of working with trees and natural materials across the UK. His sculptures are rooted in craftsmanship, sustainability and the dialogue between people and landscape.Every piece begins with the character of the timber – often wind-felled, reclaimed, or responsibly harvested-carved by hand and finished with low-impact oils and waxes. Nigel undertakes private and public commissions across the UK and internationally, with works sited in the US and Canada, Australia and New Zealand and across Europe.
Nigel creates bespoke works that enhance gardens, campuses, developments and cultural spaces. He often develops site-specific works through dialogue with architects, landscape designers and community stakeholders, and participates in symposiums abroad. Each piece is made from reclaimed or responsibly sourced timber, with clear documentation and installation support.
